State of Georgia
Chatham County Know all men by these presents that
[ ] at the May [Fair] 1823 of the Superior Court of
Chatham County, the [ ] [ ] of the State of Georgia
obtained a judgement against John P. Willaimson for the
sum of fifteen thousand dollars with Interest Cost upon
which Judgement Execution [fined] and came to the hands of
Elisha Wylly Sheriff of Chatham County, commanding him to
[ ] in the [ ] and chattel lands and Tenements of
John P Williamson, And Whereas Elisaha Wylly Sheriff
as aforesaid under & by notice of said Execution did seize and
levy on the following negro Mary to [wit] Coto/Carpenter/
aged twenty five years, and [Jurro] his wife aged twenty[three] years, and their children Barbary Six years, and Tom six month,
as the property of John P. Williamson to satisfy said
[Executrion], And Whereas the said Sheriff having [advertized] the sale thereof on the first day of February 1848
being the first [tuesday] thereof, did on that day in due
from of Law, sat [ ] and [ ] to Sale by public Outcry
at the Court House in the City of Savannah the said
negro Slaves Coto, [Jurro] Barbara and Tom and they
were [knocked ] off to James Potter at and for the price
or sum of fifteen hundred dollars being the highest and
best bid that could be obtained for the same.
Now Know Ye that I Elisha
Wylly Sheriff aforesaid under & by [ ] of said Execution
and the Law of the Land for and in consideration of
the sum of fifteen hundred dollars to me in [hand] [paid]
by the said James Potter, the receipt whereof is hereby
acknowledged DO bargain sell and deliver unto the
said James Potter the said negro Slaves above mentioned,
Together with all the right title [described] [as] [service] of
the said John P. Williamson, or which he [ever] [had]
[at] [Law] or in equity,
