The collection contains the diary of William Spencer HANNAH, ca. April 1862 –
April 1865. The diary describes troop movements of the 46th Virginia Infantry through
King & Queen County, King William County, Hanover County, Richmond, Petersburg,
Chesterfield County in Virginia and the Charleston area in South Carolina.
A transcription of the diary with annotations is available in The Diary of Second
Lieutenant William S. Hannah, Company, B, 46th Virginia Infantry, April 1862-April
1865, by Kenneth S. White (Call No. E605 .H36). A microfilm copy of the diary is
available in the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library, University of
Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia (Accession No. 7454).
