TIMBROOK JUNIOR WOMAN’S CLUB
The Timbrook Junior Woman’s Club was founded in 1959 for women in the
Timberlake-Brookville area of Campbell County. Mrs. John A. Abbitt was elected the
first president of the Club. Membership was limited to 75 members, aged 21 to 35 years,
and residents of Campbell County. The Club was elected to membership in the Alice
Kyle District of the Virginia Federation of Women’s Clubs in 1960. The Club members
assisted in numerous projects including working with the Evington School for the
retarded and with Camp Child. In 1974, the Club established Crossroads House, Inc., a
crisis counseling center for youth.
