WAR BETWEEN THE STATES, 1861-1865

The manuscript written in October 1901 describes personal reminiscences of experiences
in the Ladies Relief Hospital in Lynchburg, Va., during the Civil War.

MARY ELIZABETH MORGAN OTEY FORSBERG (1839-1918)
Mary Elizabeth Morgan, the daughter of James William Morgan and Caroline Fitz
Randolph Morford, was born in Lynchburg, Virginia, on July 22, 1839. She was one of the
founders of the Ladies Relief Hospital in Lynchburg. She married first George Gaston Otey,
who died in 1862. Following his death, she married, secondly, Ludwig August Forsberg, a
wounded soldier she nursed while in the Ladies Relief Hospital.
Mrs. Forsberg died on March 29, 1918. She was buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery,
Lynchburg, Virginia.
