BABY BOOK OF WALTER ROWBOTTOM NEXSEN
This manuscript is the baby book of Walter Rowbottom Nexsen, kept by his mother, Emma
Rowbottom Nexsen, 1915, with printed pages and illustrations in color by Mary L. Farini (New
York : published by C.R. Gibson and Co., by 1915). Also included are various notes of events in
his life and a birth announcement sent to James Rowbottom, Philadelphia.

WALTER ROWBOTTOM NEXSEN (1915-2002)
Walter Rowbottom Nexsen, son of Walter Nexsen and Emma Maria Rowbottom, was born
1 January 1915 in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was a 1937 graduate of the University of Virginia
School of Architecture and was associated with several architectural firms in Lynchburg. He
served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Europe from 1943 to 1946. He was discharged
with the rank of Major. He was president of the Virginia Chapter of the American Institute of
Architects. He died 4 September 2002 in Lynchburg.
