LAND TRANSFER, GRAYSON COUNTY, VIRGINIA - 1796
Land transfer for two Virginia Land Office treasury warrants (Nos. 11289 and 13265)
totaling 340 acres in Grayson Co., Va., assigned to Barney Huffman by Jeremiah Wilson,
surveyed May 24, 1783; transferred to Barney Huffman by deed on Oct. 21, 1796. Recorded in
Book 37, page 121, Virginia Land Office.

Robert Brooke Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, to all to whom these
presents shall come, Greeting. Know ye, that by virtue of two Land Office Treasury Warrants,
Numbers eleven thousand two hundred and eighty nine, and thirteen thousand two hundred and
sixty five, There is granted by the said Commonwealth unto Barney Huffman, assignee of
Jeremiah Wilson, a certain tract or parcel of land, containing three hundred and forty acres by
survey bearing date the twenty fourth day of May, one thousand seven hundred and eighty three
lying and being in the County of Grayson on Little Reed Island, a branch of Big Reed Island, a
branch of New River and bounded as followeth, to wit.,
Beginning at a white oak by a branch, corner to Williams’s land and with his lines East forty
poles, to a white oak, North sixty degrees East, fifty poles to three white oaks in a glade, North
twenty three degrees West thirty six poles to a red oak and white oak in Owen Adkins’ land, and
with the same North forty seven degrees East forty four poles to a white oak, then leaving
Adkins line East one hundred and sixty poles to a black oak and gum South eighty poles to a
Spanish oak, South twenty seven degrees East one hundred and twenty poles to a black oak and
chestnut South fifty five degrees West one hundred and sixty poles to a Spanish oak West eighty
poles to a white oak, thence North thirty degrees West two hundred and ten poles to the
beginning with its appurtenances to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its
appurtenances to the said Barney Huffman and his heirs forever. In witness whereof the said
Robert Brooke, Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hath hereunto set his hand
and caused the lesser seal of the Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond, on the twenty first
day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety six, and of the
Commonwealth the twenty f[irst]
