MARY CARRITHERS LAWRENCE (1873-1939)
Mary A. Carrithers Lawrence, daughter of Adam Porter Carrithers and Mary E.
Stout, was born 2 September 1873, in Shelby County, Kentucky. She married Graham
Lawrence, M.D. (born 1870) on 19 October 1898, in Shelby County, Kentucky. Dr.
Lawrence died 7 October 1938. Mrs. Lawrence died 26 February 1939.
Mrs. Lawrence served as State Regent for Kentucky, 1931-1935, as well as State
Historian, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also an active
member of the Colonial Dames of the First Colonist Society of America and a member of
Daughters of 1812. She was Chaplain of the National Association of Children of the
American Revolution at the time of her death.
