CHARLES JAMES RAGLAND (1933- ) COLLECTION
The collection includes family group sheets and correspondence from
Fontaine-Ragland and allied family descendants and correspondence with English
archivists and genealogists. Also included are court records, census records and
state records from the states of Virginia, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Illinois,
Mississippi, Alabama, Missouri, Indiana, Arkansas, Texas, and Louisa. The final
drafts for Mr. Ragland’s books The Raglands, Vol. II and The Ragland Family of
America are included. The collection also includes photographs and information
on Raglan Castle, Werndu Manor, Perthre Manor and other Welsh and English
castles. Families mentioned in the collection include: Fontaine, Ragland,

CHARLES JAMES RAGLAND (1933- )
Charles James Ragland (1933- ) of Winston Salem, NC married in 1953 Nancy
Anne Ader (1931). He was the son of Charles James Ragland (1910-1966) and
Elizabeth Mabry Fontaine (1909-1979) of Kernersville, NC. Mr. Ragland taught history
at several high schools in the Winston-Salem area before retiring from Parkland High
School in 1991. He has published books on the Spotswood, Dandridge, and Fontaine
families as well as a book entitled “My Ancestral Odyssey” that includes many royal
lines.

The collection includes family group sheets and correspondence from
Fontaine-Ragland and allied family descendants and correspondence with English
archivists and genealogists. Also included are court records, census records and
state records from the states of Virginia, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Illinois,
Mississippi, Alabama, Missouri, Indiana, Arkansas, Texas, and Louisa. The final
drafts for Mr. Ragland’s books The Raglands, Vol. II and The Ragland Family of
America are included. The collection also includes photographs and information
on Raglan Castle, Werndu Manor, Perthre Manor and other Welsh and English
castles. Families mentioned in the collection include Fontaine, Ragland,
Dandridge, West, Herbert, Henry, Gorsuch and Lovelace. Genealogical charts are
included for families of Fontaine, Maury, Burton, Macon, Winston, West, Junkin
and allied families.

CHARLES JAMES RAGLAND (1933- )
Charles James Ragland (1933- ) of Winston Salem, NC married in 1953 Nancy
Anne Ader (1931). He was the son of Charles James Ragland (1910-1966) and
Elizabeth Mabry Fontaine (1909-1979) of Kernersville, NC. Mr. Ragland taught history
at several high schools in the Winston-Salem area before retiring from Parkland High
School in 1991. He has published books on the Spotswood, Dandridge, and Fontaine
families as well as a book entitled “My Ancestral Odyssey” that includes many royal
lines.
