born in Lynchburg, Virginia, on 13 December 1886. On 17 September 1918, she married
Hugh Lovelace TURNER, born in Bedford County, the son of T. J. and Jennie TURNER.
Formerly a businessman of Petersburg, TURNER operated the Turner Taxi and Auto
Service in Lynchburg.
Anna Diuguid TURNER was vice-president of the W. D. Diuguid Funeral Home in
Lynchburg from ca. 1928 until ca. 1946.

until she was over fifty years of age. Her instructors included Georgia MORGAN, Pierre
DAURA, Elliott C. CLARK and others. Noted for her landscapes painted in her style of
"contemporary impressionism,” her paintings were exhibited in Virginia, New York and
Florida. She gave her first one-man show in 1951, in Lynchburg. In 1956, a review of
her show in Sarasota, Florida, hailed her as the "Grandma Moses of Sarasota."
A member of the First Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Anna Diuguid TURNER died 4
May 1966 and was buried in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
