JOHN S. MORRIS
John S. MORRIS, of Kent, Ohio, attended Starling Medical College, Columbus, Ohio,
and Cleveland (Ohio) Medical College. He received the degree of Doctor of Medicine
from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1861.
He served as Lieutenant and Captain, Assistant Quartermaster, First Brigade, Third
Division, 1861-1863. In 1864, he was assigned as Acting Assistant Surgeon, Lincoln U.
S. General Hospital, Washington, D. C.
In 1865, MORRIS was assigned to General CUSTER's Second Cavalry, and was
placed in charge of the cavalry field hospital in Austin, Texas. He served until the
regiments were mustered out in 1866. Later in 1866, he was of Annapolis, Maryland. He
was a resident of Baltimore, Maryland, in 1876.
