LORAND VICTOR JOHNSON (1905-1986)
Lorand Victor JOHNSON, son of Silas Weygandt JOHNSON and Julia Ann PETERS,
was born in Blockton, Iowa, on 28 May 1905. He was graduated from Huron College in
1927 and did further work at Boston University, receiving his medical degree in 1933.
Specializing in ophthalmology, Dr. JOHNSON was instructor of ophthalmology at
Western Reserve University and was clinical professor at University Hospitals,
Cleveland, Ohio. He was clinical professor of ophthalmology from 1945 until 1970, and
was ophthalmologist in charge from 1950 until 1960.
In 1941, Lorand V. JOHNSON married Dorothy STROM. He later married Linda
McNutt GILDONE.
A genealogist and historian at heart, Dr. JOHNSON was author of The Descendants of
William and John Johnson, Colonial Friends of Virginia (1942) and Johnston of
Caskillen, Crumond and Cayesville (1975).
Lorand V. JOHNSON died June 1986 at his home in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
