HILL CITY MASONIC LODGE ASSEMBLY HALL
Hill City Masonic Lodge, Lynchburg, Virginia, was organized in 1859. In 1897, a lodge
building was designed for the Lodge by Edward G. Frye, a Lynchburg architect. Around 1902,
the assembly hall of the Lodge was opened for musical performances by local artists in Lynchburg,
including the Concordia Glee Club and the Silver Tongue Quartette. By 1945, the Lodge moved
to another location and the building was then known as the Ward building. It housed several
offices along with the assembly hall used by the Floyd Ward Dance School for a number of years.
