HENRIETTA APPERSON BARKER SCHOOL COLLECTION
The collection includes typescript copies and handwritten notes for two papers written as
a senior in high school, and correspondence written to subjects of her senior paper on women
aviators. Also included is her 1933 high school yearbook.

HENRIETTA APPERSON BARKER (1919-1978)
Henrietta Apperson Barker was born 15 May 1919 in Lynchburg, Virginia, the daughter
of William Carey Barker and Margaret Miller Apperson. She was educated at E.C. Glass High
School. She traveled with older sister, Margaret Apperson Barker to Europe in 1932-1933. She
married John Holmes Kyle. During World War II, she was a member of American Red Cross
Club Mobile overseas.
Henrietta Barker Kyle died 26 November 1978, and was buried in Spring Hill Cemetery,
Lynchburg.
