The collection includes an account book (1834-1840) kept by Seth WOODROOF
recording the sales of slaves.

SETH WOODROOF (1805-1875)
Seth WOODROOF, son of Jesse WOODROOF and Rhoda PETTYJOHN, was born
ca. 1805 in Amherst County, Virginia. He was partner during the 1870's with William Q.
SPENCE, in the firm of WOODROOF and SPENCE. WOODROOF also served as a
member of the Council of Lynchburg and was director of the Lynchburg Insurance and
Banking Company. He died 4 August 1875 and was buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery.
