DIUGUID FAMILY LETTERS 1922-1955
The Diuguid Family Letters consists of a small body of correspondence, primarily
addressed to Bettie A. Diuguid of Lynchburg, Va., from members of the Diuguid family,
one Virginia State tax postal card, and a greeting card. Personal correspondents include:
Lincoln I. Diuguid (1917-2015), William Sherwood Diuguid (1910-1973) and Hubert
Scott Diuguid (1914-1985).

BETTIE ALICE McCOY DIUGUID (1875-1961)
Born Dec. 18, 1875 in Appomattox County, Va., Bettie Alice McCoy was the daughter of
William and Ella McCoy. She married Lewis Walter Diuguid in 1903. They were
parents of nine children, including Lincoln Isaiah Diuguid, pioneering African American
chemist and founder of the Du-Good Chemical Laboratory in St. Louis, Missouri;
William Sherwood Diuguid, a partner in the law firm of Bush and Diuguid of St. Louis,
Missouri; and Hubert Scott Diuguid, dentist of Lynchburg, Va. Bettie A. McCoy
Diuguid died Sept. 7, 1961, Lynchburg, Va. and is buried in Forest Hill Burial Park,
Lynchburg.
