MASSIE ERNEST HARVEY (1909–1911) SONGS
The collection includes copies of songs (words and music) written by Massie
Ernest HARVEY; a reel–to–reel tape of HARVEY singing his songs; and a letter to the
Arthur Smith Show requesting a review of the songs on the tape.
MASSIE ERNEST HARVEY (1909–1991)
Massie Ernest HARVEY, son of Thomas Edwin HARVEY and Maggie MASSIE,
was born 24 February 1909 in Amherst County, Virginia. A self–employed farmer and
painter, he also served in the U.S. Army. As an avocation, HARVEY wrote songs (music
and lyrics) in a wide variety of styles: rock–and–roll, country, ballads, religious, etc. He
died 10 December 1991.
