RIVERMONT COMPANY, INC., STOCK CERTIFICATE
The collection consists of one stock certificate from the Rivermont Company,
Inc., issued to G. S. Scott, Lynchburg, Virginia on 18 June 1892. The certificate No.
1337 for fifty shares at $10 each is embossed with the seal of the Rivermont Company.
THE RIVERMONT COMPANY, INC.
The Rivermont Company, Inc., was incorporated in Lynchburg, Virginia, on 29
April 1890, with a capital stock of $950,000. The principal officers were Charles M.
Blackford, president, Peter J. Otey, vice-president and manager, and A. M. Doyle,
secretary and treasurer. The company planned to develop more than 7,000 contiguous
acres in Lynchburg and Campbell County, Virginia. In 1892, the president was Peter J.
Otey.
