POEMS OF LIZZIE C. HALL
The collection consists of poems, written between 1927 and 1935, including
religious and memorial poems, written for family members and for special occasions.
The volume includes a memorial poem written for the poet’s father, Philip Chambers, a
memorial for James Monroe Clarke, a poem read at the installation of Rev. William
Ravenell as pastor of Court Street Baptist Church, Lynchburg, and a poem for Edward
Christian Glass on his fiftieth year as Superintendent of Lynchburg City Schools. Several
published poems are interspersed throughout the volume.
ELIZABETH (LIZZIE) CHAMBERS HALL (1874-1965)
Elizabeth (Lizzie) Chambers was the daughter of Philip Bolling Chambers and
Annie B. Lumpkin, was born 16 February 1874, in Lynchburg, Virginia. She married
William Thomas Hall, pastor of Baptist churches in Danville, Virginia, 1897-1907, and
Roxborough, Pennsylvania. She is buried in Old City Cemetery, Lynchburg, Virginia.
