VIRGINIA CARTER SCOTT (1907-1998)
Virginia Carter was born 16 January 1907 in Chatham, Pittsylvania County, Virginia, the
daughter of Chesley Lanier Carter and Mary Belle Moon. She graduated from Chatham Hall in
Chatham. She was the wife of Fontaine Herndon Scott. She served as president of the
Lynchburg Garden Club, served on the Garden Club of Virginia Board, and the Child Care
Center Board. She was active in the Lynchburg Junior League and the Colonial Dames.
Virginia Carter Scott died on 6 January 1998 in Lynchburg and was buried in Spring Hill
Cemetery.
