RAGGED ROBIN GARDEN CLUB
The Ragged Robin Garden Club was organized in April 1951, sponsored by Mrs.
William O. Bristow. Mrs. Peyton L. MORGAN served as first president of the Club. In
addition to participating in numerous flower and garden shows, the Club provided flower
arrangements for the Florence Crittenton Home and also maintained planters at a local
nursing home. In 1976, the Club published A Gardener’s Album: a collection of selected
home and garden ideas. Proceeds from the sale of the book enabled the Club to share in
other civic beautification projects.
A member of the Lynchburg Council of Garden Clubs and of the Virginia
Federation of Garden Clubs, the Club has received numerous awards for participation in
the Keep Lynchburg Beautiful project. In 1986, the Club organized an Educational
Exhibit as its contribution to the Lynchburg Bicentennial Flower Show.
