HARRIETT ADALINE CHILTON (1912-1994)

During World War II, Miss CHILTON served in the Women's Army Corps. [Harriett A.

A resident of Falls Church, Virginia, Harriett CHILTON was a member and historian
of the Robert E. Lee Chapter, No. 56, United Daughters of the Confederacy. She
received the UDC Cross of Military Service based on the service of her grandfather,
Robert Alexander CHEATHAM, in the War between the States. [Chilton, "Our Confederate
Ancestors," loc.cit.]

Miss CHILTON retired from the Central Intelligence Agency in 1971. "Her hobby
and passion in retirement was the continuous pursuit and preservation of the history of
families and community records in the Appomattox area." [Obituary, Lynchburg News and

Additionally, Harriett CHILTON was a member of the Daughters of the American
Revolution, Colonial Dames, and the Jamestown Society. "Of all her accomplishments,
