ROSA KENT GREGORY (1872-1950)
Rosa Kent GREGORY, daughter of William Sidney GREGORY and Rosa Kent
TYREE, was born 24 November 1872, in Lynchburg, Virginia. [Burial record, Diuguid
Funeral Home, Lynchburg, VA, Book 40, p. 64, Microfilmed record, Jones Memorial Library, Lynchburg,
VA.]

A descendant of many of the founding families of Lynchburg, she had a keen interest
in Virginia history and genealogy. She worked as a clerk and buyer for the J. P. Bell
Company in Lynchburg for more than 40 years. "She was a consultant on books,
especially those pertaining to Virginia history, and genealogical material. She was
informed on old silver, having devoted special study to local silversmiths and their
products, and had assembled an authoritative collection of data pertaining to these varied
interests."
She was a founding member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy in Lynchburg,
and was a member of the Poplar Forest Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.

Rosa Kent GREGORY died 7 October 1950 at her home in Lynchburg and was buried
at Presbyterian Cemetery. [Burial record, loc.cit.]
