CONSTITUTION AND BYLAWS OF THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE (1882)
The pamphlet includes the constitution and bylaws of the Lynchburg, Virginia, Chamber
of Commerce, in 1882.
On 25 November 1882, a committee was formed to “report a Constitution and Rules of
Order for [the] Association.” The committee comprised of J.H. Franklin, Max Guggenheimer,
N.R. Bowman, J.M. Shafer and Charles M. Blackford, addressed the completed report to George
M. Jones, president of the “Chamber of Commerce of the City of Lynchburg,” on 2 December
1882. The “Terms of Association, Constitution, and Rules of Order were adopted” at a meeting
held on that date.
