The three scrapbooks done by Anna M. Snead contain a complete newspaper record of
the Sesquicentennial observance in Lynchburg, Virginia, as found in The News
(Lynchburg, VA) of 11 October 1936.

ANNA MARSHALL SNEAD (1861-1956)
Anna Marshall Snead was born in Amherst County, Virginia, on 9 March 1861. She
was the daughter of Capt. Robert Winn Snead, CSA, & Octavia Winn Snead. Anna was
a charter member of Rivermont Ave. Baptist Church and taught in the public schools of
Campbell County and Lynchburg, VA, retiring in 1929. She was among the first music
and art instructors in the Lynchburg elementary schools.
Miss Snead died on 8 April 1956, at the age of 95 years. She was buried at Spring
Hill Cemetery, Lynchburg, VA.
