LYNCHBURG WELCOME CARD
The collection consists of two printed welcome cards. Each card is printed on both sides;
the obverse side of the card is titled “Lynchburg welcomes out-of-town guests,” and contains
information for visitors to Lynchburg, Virginia. The reverse side contains a small map of major
highways and rail lines in the city, with several places of interest indicated.
The date of publication of the cards is based on dates for the Lynchburg Chamber of
Commerce, organized in 1909, and the creation of the council-manager form of government
established in 1920. The card mentions the commission form of government, with a Board of
Aldermen and a Common Council, which was in existence from 1904 until 1920 in Lynchburg.
