HICKS FAMILY LETTERS 1879-1942
The collection contains 173 items, mostly correspondence between James Edward (Ned)
Hicks and his fiancée, later wife, Zulina M. Boatwright ; also included are miscellaneous items
from other members of the family as well as a genealogical report on Hicks and allied families.
JAMES EDWARD (NED) HICKS AND ZULINA M. BOATWRIGHT
James Edward (Ned) Hicks, son of John H. Hicks and Mary Willie White, was born in
May, 1859, in Cumberland County, Virginia. He worked as a farmer and railroad worker. Ned
died 29 March 1915 in Cumberland County. He married Zulina M. Boatwright, daughter of
Samuel Boatwright and Mary Hudgins of Buckingham County, who was born 3 January 1869 and
died on 20 March 1938 in Buckingham County.
