EDWARD H. MURRELL (1825-1912) PAPERS
Included is a copy of an 1856 deed from Lynchburg Deed Book U (?), p. 397,
conveying real estate from Rosanna E. Claytor, & Onslow G., George M., & John
William Murrell to Edward H. Murrell. There is also an 1898 deed of trust from E.H. and
Almira H. Murrell to John D. Horsley and R.C. Blackford. Thirdly, there is a copy of
information supporting Murrell's claim for money owed him by the US Government,
which collected rents on his property in New Orleans, 1862-1865.
EDWARD HENRY MURRELL, M.D. (1825-1912)
Edward Henry Murrell was born in 1825. He married Almira Halsey on 4 October
1849, and was a prominent physician in Lynchburg for many years, retiring from his
practice about 1892.
During 4 1/2 months of 1845, Edward H. Murrell attended the Virginia Military
Institute in Lexington, VA.
Dr. Murrell died on 11 February 1912, at "Brightwood", his home in West Lynchburg
and was buried at Spring Hill Cemetery on 12 February 1912.
