Directory of Memorial United Methodist Church - 1970
Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church, South was organized in 1884, as an outgrowth
of the Court St. M.E. Church, South. Eighty-nine members transferred, and the new
church was dedicated in December of 1884. It was located on the corner of Floyd and
9th Streets, Lynchburg, Virginia.
On December 30, 1983, a fire destroyed the sanctuary, and the congregation merged
with the Brookville United Methodist Church to form the Heritage United Methodist
Church.
