"Robert Newman ELLIS, was born...June 28, 1821. A merchant, by profession, of the
house of 'ELLIS and TAPSCOTT,' of Pedlar Mills, Virginia, and, subsequently, of
the house of 'DAVIS and ELLIS,' of the same place."
"John Dudley DAVIS...was born in the county of Amherst, Virginia, September 22,
1801...A merchant, of the firm of 'DAVIS and ELLIS, Pedlar Mills, Virginia.'"
