THOMAS J. MICHIE (1795-1873) LETTER, 24 AUGUST 1846
The letter is from Thomas J. Michie, an attorney of Staunton, VA, 24 August 1846, to
John Thompson, of Amherst Court House, VA, inquiring whether Thompson is
representing Col. William Devoe of Memphis, TN, in a suit involving the Lord Martin
versus Lord Fairfax.
THOMAS JOHNSON MICHIE (1795-1873)
Thomas Johnson Michie was born on 9 April 1795, in Louisa County, Virginia, the
son of Patrick and Dorothy Johnson Michie. Thomas attended the Staunton Academy
and studied law in the office of his Uncle Chapman Johnson, of Staunton, Virginia. He
was a highly respected lawyer in Staunton for many years.
Mr. Michie married Margaret Reed Garber in 1826, and following her death he
married Elizabeth Perin Page in 1841.
Thomas J. Michie died in June of 1873.
