The letters are from Peter White of Louisa & Buckingham Counties, Virginia, to Mr.
& Mrs. John Steele of Greenock, N. Britain [Scotland]. They are referred to as his
cousins in the letters. Included is the obituary for William White of Staunton Academy,
VA, a brother of Peter. The letter of 18 February 1811, includes a note written by a
mutual cousin, James McCau Johnston.
