HENRY (HARRY) L. ALBERTI (d. 1916) PHOTOGRAPH ALBUM
The collection consists of an album of photographs taken by Henry (Harry) L.
Alberti during his stay in Lynchburg, Va. It includes a collection of exterior and interior
photographs of homes and buildings in Lynchburg and the surrounding area, including
the Peaks of Otter, Natural Bridge, Monticello, and the University of Virginia. The
collection also includes photographs of local soldiers preparing to leave for the Spanish
American War in 1898 and of the artists' studio of impressionist artist, Bernhard
Gutmann.
HENRY (HARRY) L. ALBERTI, d. 1916
Henry (Harry) L. Alberti was associated with the tobacco business in Lynchburg
and Bedford City, Virginia. He returned to his native Germany in 1904 and was engaged
in a brokerage business, representing large interests in Egypt. On his return to Germany
he enlisted in the Red Cross service and later joined the regular army. While serving in
the army, he was decorated for bravery and was promoted to lieutenant. He died on the
