The collection, compiled by Elisabeth Wilson Hodges, includes genealogical notes on the
Wilson, Miller, and allied families, as well as court records, maps, correspondence, including
post cards, and photographs, including CD-ROM of photographs,. These materials were used in
the publication of two books by Hodges, They Came to Rockingham (2004) and These Came to
Augusta and Rockbridge (2015).

ELISABETH WILSON HODGES
Elisabeth Anne Wilson was born in Raphine, Virginia, the daughter of James Moore
Wilson and Blanche Odessa Miller. She graduated from Longwood College with a degree in
elementary education and English. She also earned a Master’s degree in special education from
the University of Virginia. She taught at teacher of the blind at the Virginia School for the Deaf
and the Blind. Later, she taught in the schools of Lynchburg, Virginia. The last twelve years of
her career were spent as a certified public school librarian.
Elisabeth married William Long Hodges on 16 June 1972 in Raphine, Virginia. He was
born in Forest, Virginia, the son of James Barnett Hodges and Frances Hartwell Long.
Seeking to preserve family history, Elisabeth completed two books on the Miller and
Wilson families - They Came to Rockingham (2004) and These Came to Augusta and
Rockbridge (2015).
