JAMES THOMAS NOELL (1832-1917) LETTERS
The collection includes letters written to James Thomas NOELL from Rosewell
PAGE and John PAGE concerning the collection of a debt from Edward T. MANN.
Also included is a letter from Henry M. HOLLADAY to John PAGE on the same
subject.
JAMES THOMAS NOELL (1832-1917)
James Thomas NOELL, son of John C. NOELL and Nancy WITT, was born 5 April
1832, in Bedford County, Virginia. He married 20 January 1863 Sarah Ann TURPIN,
daughter of John TURPIN and Mary M. LAMBERT, also of Bedford County.
James T. NOELL operated the Lone Pine Farm in Charlemont District. On 25 July
1888, he became postmaster of the Lone Pine Post Office (formerly Marrville Post
Office), succeeding Israel J. WALDRON. John C. NOELL, father of James T. NOELL,
had been postmaster when the office was discontinued in 1866.
James T. NOELL continued as postmaster until the office was closed in 1904, when
mail delivery was transferred to Bedford City.
James Thomas NOELL died ca. 1917 in Bedford County, Virginia.
