Muster Roll 31 August 1864
Notes on Pratt Hospital
PRATT HOSPITAL

Pratt Hospital was established in September 1863 as the hospital for Camp Davis in
Lynchburg, Virginia. "This camp housed troops being matriculated into the 2nd Virginia
Cavalry and 11th Virginia Infantry, among others." Pratt Hospital was called upon to
accept "overflow casualties" from other hospitals in the General Hospital system, in
addition to the patients from Camp Davis. In May 1864, for example, "more than 3,000
patients spilled over to Pratt from the other hospitals."
