CARROLL RANDOLPH McCARTHY (1906-1990)

Carroll Randolph McCARTHY, son of W. L. McCARTHY and Flossie GRUBBS,
was born 22 April 1906 in Lynchburg, Virginia. As a young man, he worked with his
father in the McCarthy Bakery, and in 1930, he attended Virginia Commercial College.
In 1932, McCARTHY began working as a court reporter in the courts of Lynchburg and
surrounding areas. He retired in 1973 after forty years of service.
Carroll R. McCARTHY married ca. 1930/1931 Dimple G. PURVIS, daughter of
Samuel C. PURVIS and Emma SIMPSON of Lynchburg.
Carroll Randolph McCARTHY died 22 June 1990 and was buried in the Fort Hill
Memorial Park in Lynchburg.
