LYNCHBURG LIGHT ARTILLERY BLUES PAPERS
The papers include one bound volume containing the constitution of this Lynchburg,
Virginia, militia unit, and signatures of the members. The other bound volume contains
the roll book for the Light Artillery Blues (1885-1886) and also the roll book for the
Lynchburg Home Guard (1884-1885), another local militia unit.
LYNCHBURG LIGHT ARTILLERY BLUES
The Lynchburg Light Artillery Blues, a local militia unit in Lynchburg, Virginia, was
later known as Battery D, 1st Battalion Artillery, Virginia Volunteers, when the battalion
was organized 8 November 1877. [Report of the Adjutant–General of the State of Virginia for the
Year 1886 (Richmond: A. R. Micou, 1887), pp. 17-18.]
LYNCHBURG HOME GUARD
The Lynchburg Home Guard, originally organized in 1859, was reorganized on 27

On 13 June 1881, the unit became Company E, 3rd Regiment Infantry, Virginia
