VIRGINIA WILLIAMSON MAGRUDER GILLIAM (1893-1978)
Virginia Williamson MAGRUDER, the daughter of Opie MAGRUDER and Rosa
WILLIAMSON, was born 24 December 1893, in Reidsville, North Carolina. She was
educated at Mary Baldwin College in Virginia and studied voice in New York City. She
was one of the first woman bank trustees in Virginia. She married ca. 1948 Harry
Edward GILLIAM, president of the Harris-Woodson Company. She was active in the
Poplar Forest Chapter, DAR, in the Woman's Club of Lynchburg, and in the First
Presbyterian Church. She died 16 March 1978 in Lynchburg and was buried in
Reidsville, North Carolina.
