GEORGIANA T. HUDSON (ca.1816–1882) LETTERS, 1864-65
Included are two letters to Mrs. Hudson of Alexandria, Virginia. One was from J.T.
Wilder, written from Old Capitol Prison, 2 July 1864, giving her his size for shoes &
pants that were not to be in a military style. Wilder was with Co. E, 4th Regiment, GA
Volunteers. The other letter was from R. F. Hanly, Division 29, Fort Delaware,
Delaware, 19 May 1865, thanking her for clothes and looking forward to his release.
Hanly may have been from Alabama, as he also inquired about the condition of an
Alabama soldier who was in a hospital in DC.
GEORGIANA T. HUDSON (c.1816-1882)
Mrs. Georgiana T. Hudson was born circa 1816 and was married to A.G. Hudson.
[1870 U.S. Census, Alexandria, VA, p. 142, National Archives Microfilm M-593, Roll 1632.] The name
was probably Augustine G. Hudson, as an obituary for him appeared in the Alexandria
Gazette in 1893, as had one for Georgiana in 1882. [Loyd House Staff, the Alexandria Library.
Obituary Notices from the Alexandria Gazette, 1784–1915 (Bowie, MD: Heritage Books, 1987), p.161.]
