ADA BYRON McDANIEL NOLAN (1917-2010)

Ada Byron McDaniel, the daughter of Samuel Marshall McDaniel and Elizabeth
Louise Steptoe, was born 15 December 1917 in Lynchburg, Virginia. She was a 1937
graduate of the Shenandoah Valley Academy in New Market, Virginia, and attended
Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, where she met her husband, Russell
Elwood Nolan. They were married 1 October 1940. He died 29 December 1959. They
were the parents of two children.
During the 1960s, Ada Nolan was a mathematician at the Dahlgren Naval
Weapons Laboratory in Dahlgren, Virginia. In 1970, she returned to Lynchburg.
An avid genealogist, Ada McDaniel Nolan was a member of the Blue Ridge
Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, in Lynchburg. She was also a member
of the Eskridge Family Association and the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
A faithful member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Lynchburg, Ada Byron
McDaniel Nolan died on 10 June 2010. She was buried in the Presbyterian Cemetery.
