RICHARDS FAMILY LETTERS, 1837-1845
The letters were written to Charles Richards by his brothers (George T., Henry B.,
Edmund, & William A.), sisters (Susan M., Emma P., Kate, & Mary), father (Charles),
and mother (S.L.). The younger Charles was in Richmond; one letter of 1840 is
addressed to "Mr. Charles J. Richards, Merchant, Opposite the Swan Tavern, Shocko
[sic] Hill, Richmond." Most of his family was in Lynchburg. Some of the letters in the
collection are undated.
There are also two letters written to J.E. Rice, Esq. from the Office of A.H.
Burroughs, Commonwealth's Attorney, Lynchburg, VA on 13 July & 11 September
1886. The matter concerned was the will of Henry Rice, of Campbell County, VA.
[Nothing further is known of this family.]
